Marine Science Station Renovation - Aqaba
Marine Science Station Renovation and Red Sea Aquarium Development Project
In 2015, after 36 years of continuous operation, the Marine Science Station in Aqaba underwent a comprehensive renovation carried out by Jafar Aquatics Co. The project introduced a new thematic design inspired by the marine environment of the Red Sea, where the visitor experience begins with small “jewel box” aquariums showcasing delicate marine species and gradually transitions through larger interactive exhibits, ending with a spectacular 6-meter shark tank as the main attraction. The renovation included extensive construction works and the installation of advanced aquarium systems, life-support equipment, and modern exhibition displays aimed at enhancing scientific research, environmental awareness, and visitor engagement. The project was funded through the support of Arab Potash Company, Ayla, and Jafar Aquatics Co. Following the successful completion of the works, the renovated Marine Science Station officially reopened in 2016 as a modern center for marine science, conservation, and tourism in Aqaba, Jordan.
