Anubias nana is a hardy, slow-growing freshwater plant known for its dark green, thick leaves. It is highly resilient and ideal for beginners and low-maintenance aquariums.
This plant is very easy to care for. It is crucial not to bury the rhizome (the thick horizontal stem) in the substrate, as it will rot. Instead, attach it to driftwood or rocks using fishing line or plant glue.
Anubias nana thrives in low to moderate lighting. High intensity light should be avoided as it may encourage algae growth on the slow-growing leaves.
Due to its small size, it is best placed in the foreground or midground of the aquarium. It can also be used as an epiphyte on various hardscape elements.
Propagation is simple and achieved by dividing the rhizome with a sharp knife or scissors, ensuring each piece has several leaves.
