Brightwell Aquatics ChaetoGro is a specialized, nitrate- and phosphate-free liquid multi-nutrient supplement designed to stimulate the growth and health of Chaetomorpha (Chaeto) and other macroalgae in marine reef aquariums. Because macroalgae consume massive amounts of trace elements as they grow, they can quickly deplete aquarium water of crucial minerals, which in turn stalls their ability to export waste nutrients like nitrate and phosphate.

📋 Dosing Instructions & Guidelines

Always shake the product well before using. You can choose between two dosing strategies depending on your setup:

Basic Dosing: For the first 2 weeks, add 5 mL (1 capful) per 20 US gallons of aquarium volume twice each week. Afterward, you can increase the dosage based on your macroalgae's growth and nutrient needs.
Advanced Dosing (Recommended): Daily dosing provides a much more stable environment than weekly spikes. Add 6 drops per 20 US gallons daily. You can adjust this amount weekly depending on the appearance and growth rate of your algae.

⚠️ Critical Requirements for Success

According to the manufacturer guidelines listed on Brightwell Aquatics, Chaeto cannot grow on trace minerals alone. For efficient nutrient uptake, you must ensure your water chemistry contains these minimum baseline parameters:

Nitrates (NO₃): Maintain a minimum of 3 to 5 ppm. If nitrates bottom out at 0 ppm, the algae will stall and begin to die off.
Phosphates (PO₄): Maintain a minimum of 0.01 ppm.
Carbon Levels: Brightwell recommends using a carbon source like Reef BioFuel or Katalyst alongside a bacterial supplement like MicroBacter7 to maintain the organic carbon levels necessary for proper filtration function.
