Nutrient-Rich Substrate: Like all Amazon sword plants, the 'Fire Phoenix' is a heavy root feeder. It must be planted directly into a nutrient-dense aquarium soil. If you are keeping it in inert substrate (like sand or gravel), you must supplement its roots regularly with nutrient-packed root tabs.
Color Optimization: While the plant will survive under low-to-medium setups, its signature fiery orange and deep red-burgundy hues heavily depend on light intensity, regular liquid fertilization, and trace iron availability.
The "Melting" Phase: If purchased from a retailer like Buce Plant or Bucep Boutique, your plant was likely grown emersed (above water) at the farm. Do not be alarmed if its initial oval leaves die back or "melt" within the first few weeks of being submerged. It will quickly transition and shoot out new, vibrant underwater foliage.
