The Red Crayfish is a hardy and active freshwater invertebrate that adds a bold splash of color and character to the aquarium. Known for their scavenging nature, they are fascinating to observe as they explore the substrate.
Provide plenty of hiding spots such as caves, PVC pipes, or rockwork to reduce territorial stress. Ensure the aquarium has a tight-fitting lid as crayfish are notorious escape artists.
Omnivorous scavengers that will accept a wide variety of foods. They should be fed sinking pellets, algae wafers, and occasionally blanched vegetables or frozen meaty foods.
Territorial and may be aggressive toward bottom-dwelling fish or other crayfish. Best kept with fast-swimming fish that occupy the upper water column. Not safe with live plants or small shrimp.
Available in sizes ranging from 3cm to 6cm. They will molt as they grow, shedding their exoskeleton to reach their full adult size.
